Abstract
At the end of this chapter, you should be able to:

outline the functional divisions of the nervous system;

describe some of the structures of the central nervous system, and their functions;

appreciate the role played by neurotransmitters in the nervous system;

discuss how drugs act on the nervous system; and

understand the functions of the autonomic nervous system.
