Abstract
We are about to embark on an exploration, to question the usefulness of computers. Why do we want to do that? After all, computers are already widely used for text processing, for graphics, for administration, for controlling mechanical devices (in cameras, motor cars, aeroplanes and space vehicles…), and for modelling less tangible things (demographic changes, economic forecasts…). So why do we have to question the usefulness of something that is evidently already useful?
