Abstract
Note The different kinds of examination questions discussed and worked out in previous chapters test particular areas of knowledge and understanding and particular skills, as defined in the syllabuses of the various boards. The contents and the emphasis of the separate papers differ accordingly. Nevertheless, the focal point of English A Level studies is English. That is why, whatever its immediate ‘targets’, each paper is necessarily a test of:
