Abstract
SQL stands for ‘structured query language’ and allows you to query database tables in a way that uses simple English words that, provided the syntax obeys certain simple rules, enables you to view the contents of related database tables. It is a language that can be used in conjunction with a number of database management systems, of which dBASE and Paradox are two. It has been put to use by a number of software companies as a database language standard for databases used on computer systems of all sizes from mainframes down to microcomputers. In this chapter the SQL used is the one. supplied with the dBASE IV program.
