Abstract

The function of the ear is to process information reaching it as sound into a form which can be analysed by the brain. The ear is divided into three parts: the outer or external ear, the middle ear or tympanic cavity and the inner ear or labyrinth. The outer ear collects sound, the middle ear transmits and amplifies sound and the inner ear interprets sound.
