Abstract

We look in this chapter at the subject of electromagnetism, which is a very important area in electronic and electrical engineering. By the end of this chapter, the reader will be able to Calculate the e.m.f. induced in a conductor which is in motion in a magnetic field. Determine the force acting on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field. Evaluate the flux density in a magnetic field. Calculate the magnetomotive force and magnetising force produced by a conductor or coil. Understand and calculate the reluctance of a magnetic circuit. Determine the reluctance of series and parallel magnetic circuits. Calculate the magnetic flux in a complex magnetic circuit. Solve problems involving magnetic leakage. Use software to solve many of the equations and problems in this chapter. We look in this chapter at the subject of electromagnetism, which is a very important area in electronic and electrical engineering.
