Abstract
Electronic oscillators are a group of positive feedback amplifier circuits, in which a proportion of the output signal is fed back and added to the input signal. In fact, the signal which is fed back forms the only input to the oscillator! In this way, the output oscillation is self-sustaining. There is a group of oscillators which produce a sinusoidal oscillation, others producing a non-sinusoidal output. Included in the latter are square (rectangular), pulse and triangular (ramp) wave generators. By the end of this chapter, the reader will be able to Calculate the frequency of a wide range of sinusoidal oscillator. Calculate the frequency of an astable multivibrator. Solve problems involving op-amp oscillators. Use software to calculate the frequency of oscillators.
