  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Macmillan Master Series ((MMS))

Abstract

In this chapter we look at the components of power in a.c. circuits. By the end of this chapter, the reader will be able to Understand the power triangle. Be able to calculate the components of the power triangle. Understand and calculate the value of real power or active power, reactive power or quadrature power, and apparent power. Appreciate the meaning of power factor and perform power factor correction calculations. Use software to solve the power triangle and power factor calculations.
