Abstract
The current law on sexual offences is largely found in a consolidating statute, the Sexual Offence Act 1956, although it has been significantly amended by the Sexual Offences Act 1967 in relation to homosexual acts, and by the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1976 in relation to rape, and the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 in relation to marital and male rape.
