Abstract

A computer is a machine that executes instructions, called software, using electronic circuits, called hardware. The software is written using a programming language, which is translated so that it can run, or execute, in the electronic circuits. The hardware is made up from digital electronics. This book describes how you design the digital electronic circuits. These circuits are used more widely than just in computers. Around the home you will find them in many domestic appliances, even in many front door chimes.
