Abstract

In the previous chapter we introduced two primary methods of changing the shape of materials. We will now discuss some of the material removal techniques in more detail. They fall broadly into one of three classifications, as summarised in Figure 7.1. Probably the most common method is via cutting, by creating chips, so we will start by concentrating on this method.
