Abstract

Through writing this book we found we had raised as many questions as we had tried to answer. We found ourselves returning to a number of stubborn issues that could not be easily answered, but we felt needed to be addressed if profiling is to have any real relevance within nursing and midwifery These issues are about confidentiality, cost effectiveness, assessment criteria, and how profiles fit into a wider agenda currently running in the health service. Because of this, we decided to record a conversation between ourselves about some of these issues. This conversation is our contribution to the debate and we hope it will inspire you to carry it on in your own field.
