Abstract

In the previous three chapters we have discussed the basic transducers available for length, temperature and light, the three most important fields. In doing so we have automatically covered nearly all the transducers there are. For example, although we have not specifically discussed force measurement, this is usually done by applying the force to some elastic member and measuring the resulting deflection with a displacement transducer, such as a strain gauge or an LVDT, and we have discussed these latter devices in some detail.
