Abstract
In the context of building contracts, the term ‘claim’ is generally used to describe an application for payment for anything other than the measured value of the work originally required by the contract. The most common sources of claims are variations, delay and disruption. The provisions for valuing variations are described in Chapter 6; this chapter is concerned with the claims which can be made by sub-contractors when they incur additional costs due to either delay or disruption of the regular progress of their work.
