Abstract

Thomas Jefferson was virtually the protégé of two eminent anti-physiocratic French writers, J.-B. Say and Destutt de Tracy, whose Political Economy extols exchange and makes property, so sacred to Locke, an instrument. (Jefferson supervised its American translation and publication.)
