    Theories to explain racial tensions and the class and status positions of ethnic minorities.

    Comparative data: social and cultural differences between minority groups in Britain. To prepare adequately for this section of the exam you must decide whether you will cover all the areas or some specific ones. Whichever issues you decide to cover you will need to know:
    1. (a)

      Some basic statistics (from surveys, census returns).

    2. (b)

      Definitions of key terms (such as ‘race’, ‘immigrant’).

    3. (c)

      Details from at least one study.

    4. (d)

      Some knowledge of recent legislation.

    5. (e)

      Some knowledge of competing theories.
