Abstract

Advances in medical and nursing practice over the past decade have greatly improved the prognosis for low birthweight and sick newborn infants. The day-to-day management of these infants, however, necessitates frequent investigations and interventions — be they invasive or non-invasive. Many procedures also disturb the infant’s rest.
