Clinical standards—the work we do
The central raison d’être of the National Health Service as seen by the general public is clinical care. Interestingly, relatively few patients complain about their clinical care. If the prescribed treatment results in relief or cure, who should bother or concern themselves with the process? Why question whether there is an alternative, more effective or efficient method of treatment? ‘The doctor always knows best!’ Few have questioned this belief, and even fewer professionals have ever questioned each other to determine the most effective methods of treatment and care.
