Production: Sources and Distribution

  • Chapter
COMECON Data 1990

Abstract

Introductory remark: The system of ownership in the CMEA countries distinguished three basic types of property, viz. state ownership, cooperative property and private property. The latter has been of minor importance in the CMEA economies {with one notable exception: agriculture in Poland). There are numerous restrictive footnotes in the tables, e.g. ‘state industry’, indicating that state-owned enterprises only are covered; ‘socialist sector’, covering state and cooperative enterprises, etc. All three kinds of property are included if not otherwise stated.
