Abstract
“New Zealand and the South Pacific” is becoming a very fashionable subject. There are so many facets worth exploring—and so many which will be explored in this volume—that no single contribution can be comprehensive. So I want to start off with a simple but definite statement: New Zealand is part of the South Pacific.
