Abstract

In chapter 8, cost monitoring was put forward as an essential requirement for any forecasting and control system. However merely monitoring what has occurred is not good enough. Managers require timely, consistent information upon which to base decisions. It is a short step to relate cost forecasting and measurement to cashflow management. Examination of how cost and cashflow management should go hand in hand forms the main thrust of this chapter.
