Abstract

The formalization of the political risk assessment function is a more recent development in West European MNCs and is still less wide-spread among them than it is in either American or Canadian corporations. As a result, relatively little has been written about the role of political risk assessment in West European corporations. This chapter reviews the role and organization of political risk assessment units in such corporations, drawing on both published information and my own recent research.
