Storing Information on Disk using a Sequential File

Abstract

To create a new staff-file in a manual system, the clerk must:

• 1. choose which filing cabinet drawer to use for storage;

• 2. decide how the file should be organised;

• 3. write a file-name label;

• 4. set aside desk-space for writing out the cards for the employees;

• 5. open the drawer;

• 6. write out cards for each employee and place them in the drawer; and finally

• 7. close the drawer.
