Abstract

To create a new staff-file in a manual system, the clerk must:

  1. 1.

    choose which filing cabinet drawer to use for storage;

  2. 2.

    decide how the file should be organised;

  3. 3.

    write a file-name label;

  4. 4.

    set aside desk-space for writing out the cards for the employees;

  5. 5.

    open the drawer;

  6. 6.

    write out cards for each employee and place them in the drawer; and finally

  7. 7.

    close the drawer.
