Abstract

The Board of Directors in a commercial enterprise—or their equivalents in the public service—have overall responsibility for all aspects of the organisation’s operations, which must include security. Legal action (in the event of, for example, breaches of the Data Protection Act; Financial Services Act irregularities; civil actions for damages) would be aimed initially at the directors, whoever was directly responsible for the breach.
