Abstract
The purpose of the suspension system on a vehicle is to:

Minimise the effect of road surface irregularities on passengers, vehicle and load.

Maintain wheel contact with the road.

3.
Transmit drive and brake torque.

4.
Locate the axle.
-
5.
Support the unsprung weight.

6.
Minimize unsprung weight.
