Abstract

In this book, we have presented group theory as an abstraction based on certain natural, familiar (and not so familiar) mathematical systems: systems of numbers, vectors, matrices, permutations and symmetries. What these systems share is what we formulated into the group axioms — associativity, identity, inverses.
