Abstract
In April 1989, the Salvation Army and Surrey University carried out a survey of people sleeping rough in London, the first since the 19th century. The results will give a snapshot of the current situation, with evidence of recent trends. The fact that the survey was done indicates that the problem of sleeping rough is thought to be on the increase.
