Abstract
Gender is inescapable. It is probably the most important determinant of any individual’s life experience. For the two sexes exist in different social worlds with widely divergent pressures, rewards and expectations. In many areas of life there is no truly human experience. There is only female experience and male experience. (Rohrbaugh, 1981, pp. 3-4)
