Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to give some clues to the texture of the relationships between Venezuelan society and political life. The essay is divided into two parts. In the first I will trace the relationship between Venezuelan political institutions — namely, the government and the political parties — and some general aspects of Venezuelan society, such as race, religion, urbanization and political culture. In the second, I will write about the more identifiable social and political actors in the political process and about their interrelationships.
