Abstract
In March 1983, I became involved in the latest in a series of surveys which had begun in 1962 to measure the travel speeds in central London. This was carried out by the MSc students and others of the Transport Studies Group of University College London, of which I was a member. There has in fact been a subsequent survey in 1988.
