Abstract
This book has examined some of the characteristics of bilateral development assistance provided by non-oil exporting developing states to three West African countries. The range and diversity of South-South development projects, and the variety of donors to the three countries, revealed that South-South aid had become an important factor in the development assistance received by the three states. The case studies have also shown that the ranks of the established Third World donors are being joined by newly emerging donor states. We now turn to a critical appraisal of the South-South aid effort in our three case-study countries.
