Abstract

Microcomputers, like minicomputers and mainframes, are frequently used for accounting and related data processing applications. The applications discussed in this chapter are for general business accounts requirements. Packages for professional accounting companies are not covered, as these are more specialised. Even so, many of the general accounting packages that are available do require the knowledge of a company accountant and may not be suitable for the smaller firm whose manager may only wish to produce the basic business accounts to satisfy the law.
