Peplau’s model in practice

Peplau’s Model in Action

Abstract

Any nursing model where the process of nursing can be used provides an opportunity for the nurse to apply her intellectual and creative skills in actively seeking information about the patient. Nursing care requires that information be obtained from the patient so that accurate goals of care can be identified; the nurse can then make informed decisions, with the patient if possible, on how nursing is to be carried out and evaluated. To do this effectively, a nurse must have practical and social skills to draw upon — nursing involves more than just knowledge. The nurse needs to know how to behave with the patient.
