Abstract

Mortar can be thought of as a ‘gap-filling adhesive’ which evens out any slight irregularities in size and shape between bricks, gives an even bed and ensures uniform distribution of loads. It also influences the compressive strength, durability and resistance to rain penetration through brickwork.
