Abstract

Creating a workforce that is equipped to meet the demands of business and industry will be one of Britain’s major challenges throughout the 1990s and into the next century. For the next twenty years the shortage of people with skills will be a key problem in both traditional and modern high technology industries and, if Britain is to compete successfully in the world, it is vital that the problem is recognised by business and attacked with vigour.
