Abstract
Immunoassays have found widespread use in the detection and measurement of a near limitless range of analytes in clinical chemistry, microbiology and many other fields. Their utility stems from the fact that most analytes of interest are either antigens or antibodies (themselves) and antibodies can be generated against them which have high discriminatory powers (specificity) and high affinity constants.
