Abstract
In a circuit which contains one or more energy storage element, a transient state will exist whenever the energy condition in the circuit changes, until the new steady state is reached. This may be caused by changing the applied voltage or current, or by changing any of the circuit elements, usually by opening or closing switches. This chapter studies the behaviour of such circuits as a function of time after making a change. Both single and double energy transients will be considered and their equations expressed in standard form.
