Abstract

Additives A material or substance added for various reasons. Liquids are added to sand and cement mixes to make them more workable, largely to replace the use of lime. These help to retain the moisture in a mix, and are known as ‘plasticisers’. Liquids can be added to sand and cement to either frost-proof or water-proof the work.
