Abstract
Throughout this book a number of functions have been used to enable information to be input to a program and information to be output from a program. In this chapter we will summarise and compare these functions and in the process introduce other standard input/ouput (i/o) functions which we have not encountered so far. In the second part of the chapter we will extend our knowledge of i/o to the reading and writing of data to and from files rather than the standard i/o with which we have been concerned so far. Finally we will use these functions to extend the programs we have been developing and to write one or two other useful programs.
