Abstract

The partnership of Martin Currie & Co., founded in 1881, was incorporated in 1985 to become Martin Currie Ltd. There are 3 subsidiaries: Martin Currie Investment Management Ltd., which manages all UK-based portfolios; Martin Currie Inc., incorporated in New York and registered with the SEC in 1978, which manages international portfolios for ERISA clients; Martin Currie Unit Trusts Ltd., which manages 6 specialist unit trusts. The business is wholly owned by the executive directors, and offers a high standard of personal service to a select number of institutional clients. Portfolios are managed on a day-to-day basis by investment directors, and there is no delegation of investment decision-making below that level. It is independent of any other organization and derives its income solely from investment management.
