Abstract

The paper discusses the range of design effort that can exist within industry and it is shown that a high percentage of design relates to customising standard designs. This being so, the paper describes an integrated CAD approach for automatically generating the design of special hydraulic cylinders. The paper then goes on to discuss the merits of this approach and suggests the types of products where it could be viably applied.
