Abstract

At the end of this chapter you should be able to:

  • Outline the advantages and disadvantages to be gained from the use of word processing systems, spreadsheets, simple database management software and integrated software packages.

  • Explain the basic principles of operation of word processors, spreadsheets and database management systems.

  • Discuss the ways in which quantity surveyors might use general purpose software.
