Abstract

There is no one ‘correct’ way to write on any novelist but an essay must be purposeful and have a recognisable structure. It isn’t just ‘chat’ in writing, however intelligent and informed that might be, but a form of expression that has its own conventions and procedures. The bad news is that these have to be practised and mastered; the good news is that this can be done quite easily. With application and care, it is perfectly possible for everyone to write a good essay, and get a lot of satisfaction in doing so.
