Abstract

A gap of fourteen years and a World War separates A Passage to India from Forster’s other novels. It is his last novel, and generally regarded as his finest; indeed, many consider it to be a classic of twentieth-century fiction. A short summary of the plot will show us certain features that are familiar to those who have read some of Forster’s earlier novels, as well as some interesting new developments.
