Abstract

It will be remembered that the sixth main area of managerial tasks was that of co-ordinating. This chapter considers the skills needed for the most efficient and effective presentation of material which the manager wants to get across to listeners. A detailed account of how to make such presentations has been included as most first-line managers, particularly those in the community, will, at some time, be involved in these activities. These skills, some of which are common to all forms of presentations, relate to:

  • using equipment (overhead projectors, charts and so on)

  • writing reports

  • speaking to small groups

  • making a speech

  • educating the public.
