Abstract
Amongst the latest developments in international finance, such as securitisation, disintermediation and deregulation, attention should first be focused on globalisation. If the international financial markets could already be considered as global, there would be far-reaching consequences for today’s financial centres. In fact, although they are international, they do offer comparative advantages within their national context, and that is the reason why they still exist.
