Abstract
Studying physics is about understanding ideas, the meanings of new words and how to apply these to solving problems. In the real world of engineering and practical science, words and ideas are not enough. The physics student needs to be able to perform calculations in order to test predictions accurately and to be able to process information gained from laboratory measurements.
