Abstract

The three poets, Seamus Heaney, Leslie Norris and Dannie Abse, considered in the previous chapter are still active writers adding to their already considerable body of work as the eighth decade of this century comes to a close. The Liverpool poets whom I mentioned in Chapter 4 also continue to publish, but their influence may now be seen to have been more central to the exposure and projection of poetry readings than in the creation of a lasting ‘pop’ poetry. But there have been other developments in poetry which are of interest.
