Abstract

This section outlines two prominent groups of user firm, first; the smaller specialized trading firm operating in one or a few markets, and secondly, the large globally integrated trading firm operating in the whole range of financial trading markets. In general terms, the smaller firms are likely to operate a basic information network fed by one or two data feeds and where analytical output is required, a PC-based decision support system will be used running an industry standard package such as Excel or Lotus. The larger global firms will usually have set in place a large-scale information infrastructure handling a wide range of data feeds as well as powerful decision support systems running centrally and locally at the desk.
