Abstract

Doctors working on in vitro fertilisation (test-tube babies) can see how, in the first few days after an egg cell is fertilised in the oviduct, it divides into two, four, eight and sixteen cells. In a normal pregnancy this is when it is travelling down the oviduct to the uterus.
